ABOUT Russian State University for the Humanities

Founded in 1991 through the merger of the Moscow State Institute for History and Archives (1930) and Shanyavsky People’s University (1908), the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) is a leading institution in humanities, social sciences, and information technology. It comprises 11 institutes and 18 faculties, excelling in philosophy (top 200 globally, QS 2023), history, political science, journalism, and linguistics. With 25,000 students and a low 5:1 student-faculty ratio, RSUH is ranked among Russia’s top 35 universities (Forbes 2025) and holds national prominence in history, philology, and journalism (RAEX-100).
